If you’re looking for a real taste of Canada, or simply an unforgettable trip that takes your breath away, then get ready to embrace all of the natural wonders that Thunder Bay has to offer. An absolute treat for the eyes, this lush destination is overflowing with dense forests, raging waterfalls and tranquil nature trails. But that’s not all, as this idyllic retreat is also home to a charming and welcoming city.
A trip to Thunder Bay is all about getting back to the great outdoors, and there’s no better way to do that than by feeling the wind in your hair as you zip-line across Eagle Canyon, or go canoeing along a great lake. It’s thoroughly recommended that you enjoy the fresh air and stunning view at the Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park, so pack a picnic and relax whilst overlooking the cascading waterfalls.
The Sleeping Giant Provincial Park is also a delight that should not be missed. Not only can you witness some of the local wildlife in their natural habitat, but as you hike along the forest trails you’ll soon get an incredible panoramic view of Lake Superior. Before departing, make sure you head to the Fort William Historical Park to see a little Thunder Bay history come to life. A fun and educational recreation event, you’ll get a glimpse into what life was like for many rural settlers in this great and expansive land.
Thunder Bay isn’t ideally travelled on foot. In fact, many of the national parks are best reached with a convenient car rental so you can travel at your own pace. Whilst in the city, however, visitors should take advantage of the transit bus service that can take you across the region for a small fee.
