• The National Carillon stands on Aspen Island in Lake Burley Griffin. It was a gift from the British Government on the 50th anniversary of the National Capital. Its 53 bells chime every 15 minutes. 
• The Australian War Memorial is one of the most-visited museums in Australia. It’s not only a memorial to those who died in past wars, but also shines a light on soldiers today.
• Floriade is held in September and October each year. It is Australia’s largest spring floral festival and takes a different theme each year. More than one million bulbs are used in the displays.
• To get an overview of Canberra in all its glory, visit Black Mountain Tower or Mount Ainslie. The Black Mountain Tower stands 195 metres (640 feet) above the summit of Black Mountain, from where there are 360-degree views of the city and its surrounds. Mount Ainslie in Canberra Nature Park has a lookout area at 842 metres (2,762 feet) above sea level. The views from there are pretty majestic.
